Et cetera / ET CETERA RULES!
« Last post by konoha on March 21, 2018, 10:09:03 pm »
(The rules for Et Cetera are basically the same as the General Rules but for the sake of convenience I will repost them here with any addendums made in red.)

We ask for everyone to show respect toward other members, to this community, and to try their best to get along. The rules are drafted to best reflect this. Most of these rules are common sense and just ask you to show a basic level of decency. These rules apply across all of Just Be Nice and Have Fun (JBNAHF).

1. Respect your fellow members - This includes no attempts to insult, deride or provoke other members. This is a forum dedicated to good vibes, after all. Flaming and baiting are big no-nos as well as causing drama so please just keep it civil and if you take issue with any user either send them a DM or bring it to the attention of a Moderator. In any debates or discussion, respect is equally important; remember that the goal is not to be right, but to reach a better understanding of the subject and each other.

2. Follow Topic Intention - Within Reason Each section has its own set of rules and etiquette (for example some allow spam, some do not); please respect them and read the rules before you post! Don't turn a topic into something it's not unless the author states that they do not mind if the thread derails. We will keep a very casual mindset about the Et Cetera section unless this becomes a problem. If so, stricter rules will be enforced. If the opening post is random/spammy, then it should follow the topic is random/spammy. If it's casual keep your post more casual and if the opening post is detailed and serious please follow suit. The only time you can do this is if the topic's author or section-staff member says it's okay. Otherwise just make a new topic. Finally, if a topic-author asks you to follow certain rules to post in that topic (ie: it's an RPG, a debate or someone's journal for example), then do stick to them.

3. No Harassment - Harassing another member through PM, IM, or on the boards. In most cases this may be following an argument. If you feel you are being harassed and want the member to leave you alone, then PM them back requesting very explicitly for them to not contact you any further and block them if possible. If they proceed to contact you then please contact a member of staff. If the harassment in nature is violent, sexual or stalking then please contact us immediately.

4. No Bad Posting Behaviors - Including but not limited to posting more than six topics in the same section in a one hour period, (even though this is a spam section please be courteous and do not flood) speaking excessively in a non-English language (thusly making it impossible to moderate your post), posting background music or media without warning, oversized Signatures over 400 pixels tall (including all text and images), posting a mass of images in a post without a long post disclaimer and so on. Only exceptions are if a section-staff member gives you permission.

5. Work-Safe Content - While we are not PG13, please note that some people post from work-places/school and colleges and that not everyone wants to read very crude posts or images. If your post or posted image goes too far we will send you a polite reminder to tone it down or potentially remove the post depending on the severity of it which will be at the moderator's discretion. Swearing is fine, but show some taste in what you post and do not post pornography or anything that may get someone in trouble at work. If you intend to post something NSFW (not safe for work), please either spoiler tag it or post it in an 18+ tagged board.

6. Follow Complaints Procedure - If you have a complaint as to how the board is run, its rules, how they are applied, or about its staff members please post this privately to a member of our staff; do not make a topic about it. This process ensures that any issues/problems are dealt with quickly in as drama-free manner as possible. Note a complaint is not the same as giving constructive criticism or suggestions on how to improve and you are free to post that (General Discussion is the best place to make a topic) as long as it is respectfully put and does not cause drama.

Journals / JOURNAL RULES & GUIDELINES
« Last post by konoha on March 21, 2018, 12:47:50 pm »
One Journal
We ask that if you open a journal only make one... Fairly straight forward... If you should decide that you wish to join a shared journal, please contact a moderator BEFORE you join the new journal, to request that your old journal is locked and archived... Please also note, that you are not entitled to join in a new/shared journal UNTIL the old one is locked and moved to the archive.

Individual Journal Rules
Every member may make their own rules for their own journal with regards to posting, which must always be listed in their first post. You should respect these journal rules. If you, the journal owner, has anyone breaking your rules for your journal, then you should PM a moderator/admin about it. This also means that if a journal owner requests that you no longer post in their journal, then you stop posting there. If you ignore this you will instantly receive an unofficial warning as this will be considered as harassment. Details will be passed to the admin who will make the decision on whether this is to be upgraded to an official warning.

50 Page Limit
Once your journal has reached page 50, please contact a moderator/admin to ask them to lock/archive your journal. Again, as above, please DO NOT start a new journal until the old one is locked and archived. Also, please refrain from posting in a journal which has reached page 50. If you are found to be pushing a journal to page 51, you will receive an unofficial warning. This is the case for a few reasons. Firstly, the amount of people requesting that their journals be locked early. Secondly, opening 50 page journals is faster than opening one which is larger. If a member posts past page 50 on 3 different occasions, then that member will be reported to the security admin who will make the decision on whether or not to issue an official warning.

Locking Your Journal
If at any time you wish to finish your journal, for whatever reason, please PM a moderator/admin. Any closed (locked) journals on the main Journal forum will be unlocked again when seen by a moderator. Locked journals need a moderator/admin to move them to the Archive, so please notify us when this is required. Please not that a journal can't be moved out of the archive once it has been moved there.

Opening Post & Suggested Format
All journals must contain an opening post that gives some information about ALL of the journals owners in it. This is only a guideline, you do not have to use this, you can format it any way you wish as long as it contains information about the owner(s).

Note you do not have to use all, or any, of this format

Name:
Age:
Location:
Hobbies:
Interests:
Occupation:
Favorite Things:

Journal Ethics
Some journal owners prefer to use their journal as a constructive space, while others use the journal to socialize. In either case, posting content which they would not appreciate, or which is found irritating, is not recommended and could land you in some hot water with the moderators. Please be courteous, use some common sense and judge on whether you think the owner would find your post an annoyance.

Spam
As said before, everyone treats their journal differently--this may include some "spammy" posts but that is entirely at the journal author's descretion. (A conversation is considered spam after 6 off-topic posts.)

Welcoming
If you decide to post in someone elses journal, please try and be thoughtful about your first post! "Hey how r u?" isn't exactly friendly or constructive. Please try making a heartfelt welcome, and try to get to know the owner!!

Additional Information
Placing original username/journal title in first post: If you are one of these people that often change your username or journal title then we ask that you put your original username or journal title in the first post.
